The IEEE IAS I&CPS
The IEEE Industry Applications
Society Industrial & Commercial Power Systems Conference
has maintained a long standing tradition of a valuable place
for electrical engineers to present papers and meet with
one another to discuss electrical power system work. In
2007, the conference is expanding to include more tutorials,
vendor displays, and a larger audience. Timing is perfect
for the venue to be in Edmonton because of the rapid growth
and increased demand for power in the region. Engineers
can take advantage of the expertise given at the venue,
and relate that to relevant work experience. As a participant,
you will be sharing experiences with engineers, electricians,
scientists, safety professionals, and others all interested
in advancing electrical power systems.

Welcome to
Edmonton!
As Chair, and on behalf of the 2007 Conference,
I want to extend my personal welcome and appreciation to
you for joining us at the IEEE IAS I&CPS 2007 Conference,
at the Sutton Place Hotel in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.
Edmonton provides a unique venue for the
event, such that it is one the strongest growing and developing
epicenters in North America for Industry. As such, it gives
attendees a first-hand experience at the intricacies of
our market and the specific requirements for expanding into
the region.

Letter of
Invitation (pdf file
for download)
Did you know that the IEEE IAS I&CPS
was, and still is, the force behind the development and
update of the ANSI/IEEE Color Book Standards? That is the
Red, Brown, Gold, White, Bronze, Emerald, Green, etc. books
which deal with the practical aspects of design, power system
and reliability analysis, protection, and maintenance of
various types of industrial and commercial power systems.
The I&CPS is much more than standards, and has several
committees, Power Systems Engineering, Power System Protection,
and Energy Systems which advance the analysis and the design
of industrial and commercial power systems.
This conference provides engineering staff
involved in the design, engineering and maintenance of industrial
and commercial facilities, or electric utility staff dealing
with customers who have those facilities, an opportunity
to learn about emerging issues, equipment trends, or how
others tackled problems related to industrial and commercial
power systems.

The Value of this Conference
The IEEE IAS I&CPS Conference
provides attendees an interactive learning experience on
the latest changes in technology and thinking with respect
to industrial and commercial power systems. Through multi-disciplinary
presentations and cross-functional dialogue about the opportunities
and challenges in general industry and electrical disciplines,
a first time participant can take away knowledge
to aid in the understanding of electrical power systems.
Repeat participants
know they can bring their tough questions to the 2-day program
where experts and peers focus specifically on real world
problems. You will be able to compare experience and practical
applications with your counterparts in other companies and
organizations. You will be interacting with experts who
are leading change in codes, standards, regulations, and
research aimed at improving electrical power system design,
development, protection, maintenance, and operation. For
those interested in continuing education credits, IEEE will
award X CEU credits (X PDH credits).

Information for Exhibitors & Sponsors
Vendor
Program
We invite you to consider
becoming a sponsor for one of our meals or refreshment breaks
that occur in conjunction with conference sessions. Commercialism
and advertisement during the technical sessions of the Workshop
is strictly controlled. As a sponsor you have exclusive
rights to a reasonable amount of advertising such as screen
time in the main auditorium, signage in the break area and
the opportunity for prize raffles during the meal or break
that you are sponsoring.
The Workshop provides a unique
venue for making the electrical community aware of your
products and services. We encourage all exhibitors to attend
the full Workshop in order to experience the latest technologies,
listen to and better understand the problems encountered
in the field, and hear the concerns of participants. This
information is of great value in determining customer needs
and wants, which can help in product design and marketing
strategies. The face-to-face networking time available in
between the workshop sessions offers each exhibitor the
opportunity to reacquaint themselves with existing customers
as well as develop new contacts and to share how their products
and services benefit the industry. Each year the workshop
has grown, largely due to the caliber of people that attend.
At the end of the workshop all participants are given a
printed attendees list. Most of the attendees are highly
influential members of their organizations.
We entice all participants
to visit all exhibitors during scheduled hours, by offering
food and beverages in the vicinity. While planning your
budgets and your participation in this conference, please
consider offering one or more of your products, services
or related items as prizes for participants.
Space is limited and will
be reserved on a first come basis. Your early response will
help make the IEEE IAS I&CPS as successful as past workshops
as it helps advise the planning committee on how to best
draft the floor plan and layout.
The I&CPS 2007 Conference
will be providing complimentary beverages for the duration
of the conference. The complimentary beverages will be located
in the vendor display room to ensure that the majority of
attendees get an opportunity to view the displays. Follow
the link below to see a sample layout of the vendor display
room:winter lake
suite layout.
I would be more than happy
to discuss the benefits of the Conference with you at any
time. Please feel free to contact me for information about,
and costs of, being a sponsor and or exihibtor.
Sincerely,
Vendor Program Chair

Commercialism and Ethics Policy
The IEEE IAS I&CPS Conference
is designed to bring people together from various perspectives,
groups, enterprises, agencies, communities, societies and
affiliations to address the mission of Changing the Electrical
Safety Culture. In recognition of the diverse presentations
and audiences, that are joined together by this effort,
the IEEE IAS I&CPS Conference must establish an open,
respectful, and professional forum. This forum includes
both the exchange of technical information independent of
commercial issues, and the display of products and services
that are commercial in nature.
Participation in the Conference
from all interested parties is essential. To this end, the
participation of all interested parties, as long as it is
appropriate, is not only welcome but is encouraged. This
policy has been developed to protect the integrity of the
Conference, and to preventing any potential conflicts or
compromises relating to Business Ethics, Commercialism,
and/or Vendor Entertainment Etiquette. All associated with
the Conference are expected to conduct themselves in accordance
with this policy.
